Matt Loveridge and Jim Cornick - Documentary Reel

Award winning Bristol based composer working across a variety of genres for film, TV and online. Collaborating with filmmakers who want to tell more dramatic and emotive stories through original music. I also sit on the RTS committee for the West of England and promote the work of Bristol's amazing screen composers, musicians and facilities within the TV world.
• RTS West of England Best Composer Winner 2023 for ‘Rendezvous With The Future’, a 3 part science documentary for BBC Studios and Bilibili, co-scored with Jim Cornick
• RTS West of England Best Composer Nominee 2021 for ‘My Best Friend Married A Warrior’, a short drama for Drummer TV and CBBC
• International Sound and Music Festival Best Soundtrack Nominee 2021 for ‘Above The Troubled Water’, a short documentary for Joe Cohen, co-scored with Jim Cornick
• RTS West of England Best Composer Nominee 2019 for ‘The House Is Open’, an installation for Bristol Old Vic and Aardman
My work also includes feature and short dramas, animated series (including Lloyd Of The Flies for Aardman and Ready Eddie Go for Sky Kids), documentaries for BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5, plus branded content for clients including Barbour, Royal Mail, Cox and Cox, Arup, Pink Lady Apples, Transport for Wales, TK Maxx, Dupixent, The Royal Opera House, Bristol Old Vic, B&Q, Barnardos and Amnesty International.
My principles remain the same with any scoring job - Focus on storytelling, character and branding. I want each score to be different, creating new sounds and textures from scratch where possible to create a unique calling card, knowing when music can and should take the lead, and where it should be subtle or indeed absent, always remaining subservient to the narrative.

I have over a decade’s experience working in post production sound as a dubbing mixer and creative sound designer, and 3 years experience on high end drama as a boom operator, so my understanding of the overall soundtrack plays into my use of music and I love to collaborate closely with the sound team.
I have given lectures and mentored students at Aardman Academy and dBS, and hosted panel sessions for RTS and BBC Academy.
