Talia is a Bristol-based, BAFTA Albert certified, eco-friendly short film that follows a young girl connecting with her late mother through a love of nature
Since so much of the story is told through the soundscape (light wind through trees, birdsong, the presence or absence of traffic), the score required a very light touch. I used a stripped-back ensemble, and centred the score around a simple piano motif that is woven with harp. The shimmering strings and organ bed behind is allowed to drift in and out of the soundscape almost imperceptibly, as we feel Talia's spirit is at one with the nature around her.
